KARACHI: Actor Humaira Asghar Ali’s family has agreed to receive her body, which was discovered earlier this week from an apartment in Karachi’s DHA Phase VI area, where she was living alone for 7 years.
According to Express News, the police said that Ali’s brother-in-law has contacted the police and confirmed that they are coming to receive her body in a few hours. He said that Humaira’s brother is also with him.
The police had instructed his brother-in-law that the deceased’s body would be handed over to her blood relative only. The family will later decide when and where the actress will be buried.
Earlier, the actor’s father had refused to receive her body, after which her brother-in-law contacted the police to receive the body.
After her legal heirs refused to perform the last rites, the Sindh Culture Department took responsibility for the burial of the actress. The decomposed body of the actress was found in her apartment, nearly six months after her death.
The initial post-mortem conducted by Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed suggested the body had decomposed over a period of about a month. However, further forensic investigation and digital evidence suggest she likely died in October 2024, nearly six to eight months ago.
