BHIMBER (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhimber has arrested the driver of a Hiace bus on Mirpur Road, who was accused of harassing female passengers.
According to the sources, the arrest came into effect due to some videos going viral on social media in which the accused driver was seen to be involved in immoral acts with the women sitting in the front seat of the bus.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate took immediate action against the accused and seized his vehicle with the help of the police.
SDM Bhimber Muhammad Ais Baig said that on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, strict action will be taken against those who harass, harass, use ambiguous words, or commit any indecent act against women.
He further said that the police and traffic police have been directed to prepare a report on the licenses and mental condition of the drivers of vehicles plying on Mirpur, Gujrat, Bhimber to Chowki Samahni and Barnala routes so that such elements can be brought to justice.
He announced that action is being taken against the concerned driver under the rules, and in the future, all public transport, including school and college buses will be kept under strict surveillance so that such incidents can be prevented. The SDM appealed to the public to report any complaints immediately.
