LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir Digital): The continuous heavy snowfall has brought life to stand still in Azad Kashmir with the main highway connecting Leepa Valley and Muzaffarabad being completely closed due to the harsh weather conditions.
Continuous rains and snowfall over the last five days in the Leepa Valley have resulted in the closure of several roads and highways making commuting nearly impossible for the residents.
Moreover, the extreme weather in Azad Kashmir has caused several traffic accidents in the last few days prompting the authorities to issue travel and advisory and closing several key routes for traffic.
Additionally, two vehicles were trapped in the snow after being hit by a glacier during the heavy snowfall, which was safely rescued with the help of the Pakistan Army and Highways Department machinery.
The administration has warned the public to avoid any unnecessary travel until the Leepa-Reshian Road is restored.
According to the Highways Department, a restoration operation be launched as soon as the weather clears so that life in Azad Kashmir resumes as usual.
