MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Department has fined Rs50,000 on various shopkeepers in Mirpur for selling adulterated and substandard food items.
As per details, Assistant Food Safety Officer Asif Riaz and Food Technologist Muhammad Jalil checked oil, ghee, spices, beverages, milk, and yogurt shops across the city. Food department officials tested 47 milk samples and issued notices to some milk sellers.
They tested dozens of different items on the spot through the Mobile Food Testing Lab and took strict action against the shopkeepers selling food items other than those approved by the Food Authority.
Assistant Food Safety Officer asserted that legal action will be initiated against any shopkeeper found involved in selling adulterated and substandard items.
The Food Department is checking the quality of the items on a daily basis to strictly implement the instructions of the government and the Food Authority, the official statement said.
“We are trying to ensure that the citizens are provided with quality items in accordance with the principles of hygiene,” it added.
