BAGH (Kashmir English): The Health Employees Association on Thursday staged a protest over the violence against lady health workers during a vaccination campaign in Bagh.
On Wednesday, a local person assaulted and detained health workers for an hour, who were on duty to administer HPV vaccination in Bani Mahaldra village in Bagh. They also obtained interim bail after the incident.
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the accused person and cancellation of their interim bail.
The speakers said that the government should provide protection to the health workers, and justice should be given to the victims.
The Bagh administration assured the protesters that no leniency would be shown to those involved and that strict action would be taken against the accused.
Addressing the protest, President Paramedical Association Raja Imtiaz Khan, President Allied Health Shamim Akhtar, and others condemned the incident and said that if the demands are not met within two days, the protest may become statewide.
The police said that an FIR has been registered against the accused under three sections. The interim bail will be cancelled in the next hearing, and they will be taken into custody, the administration assured.
