LAHORE (Kashmir English): Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman of the PML-N has taken lead with 12,425 votes against PTI-backed Arsalan Ahmed who could secure 7,658 votes in over 100 constituencies, as per the initial unofficial results.
Unofficial and unconfirmed results received so far of 115 out of 334 polling stations in NA-129 (Lahore) by-election showed the PML-N candidate in a comfortable lead.
Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman of PML-N has taken the lead with 12,425 votes while Arsalan Ahmed is in second place with 7,658 votes.
A total of 17 candidates are in the fray for the NA-129 Lahore by-election, including Mian Muhammad Nauman of PML-N, Arsalan Ahmed, nephew of former PTI federal minister Hammad Azhar, and independent candidate Bajash Khan Niazi.
The total number of voters in the constituency is 558,364, including 289,339 male voters and 269,025 female voters.
NA-129 Lahore includes areas such as Samanabad, Gulshan Ravi, Babu Sabu, Bakar Mandi, Choburji, Poonch Road, Kacha Ferozepur Road, Sabzazar, Iqbal Town, and GRO-II.
A total of 334 polling stations and 1,045 polling booths were set up in this constituency, including 133 for men, 131 for women, and 70 joint polling stations.
Why by-election?
The seat became vacant after the demise of Mian Muhammad Azhar of PTI. In the last general elections, Mian Muhammad Azhar secured 103,718 votes, and Mian Muhammad Nauman of PML-N received 71,540 votes.
