ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has restored the health card program for the residents of Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit Baltistan, effective from January 16, 2025.
The National Steering Committee of Sehat Sahulat Programme (SSP), chaired by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, on Monday approved the revival of the Federal Sehat Sahulat Program until June 30, 2027.
More than 10 million residents will benefit from the Rs 40 billion PC-1 sehat sahulat program.
In a letter to all designated panel hospitals under the program, the State Life Insurance Corporation has requested to extend their cooperation for the provision of services to the said beneficiaries and establish health desks before the prescribed date.
“It may be noted that the formal assessment of hospitals will be carried out in due course of time,” the letter added.
Under the extension, eligible families will continue to be provided free treatment in designated government and private hospitals, which will especially benefit the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, where access to specialized treatment is a major challenge due to geographical constraints and limited medical facilities.
This initiative will also help reduce the financial pressure on the Provincial Health Endowment Fund, while uninterrupted provision of health facilities to the public will be ensured through parallel operations of the Sehat Sahulat Program.
