Government mulls new currency notes, committee notified

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal cabinet has formed a cabinet committee on the new currency notes.

The federal cabinet meeting was held today at the Prime Minister’s House, Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which federal ministers and other senior officials participated.

The federal cabinet was briefed by the Ministry of Finance about the new design of banknotes issued by the State Bank of Pakistan.

The meeting was informed that the new currency notes are being designed in accordance with modern requirements, and the services of international experts have been obtained in this regard.

The cabinet was informed in the briefing that new design banknotes of 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 rupees will be introduced.

A better security thread will be used in the new currency notes. The regional and geographical diversity of Pakistan and its historical monuments have been given space in the design of the new currency notes.

The cabinet was informed that the inclusion of women in national development will also be made part of the design, and important social issues such as environmental change will also be made part of the design.
