CHAMAN (Kashmir English): Tension has once again escalated along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border at Chaman after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) allegedly opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani border positions, security sources said on Friday.

According to the sources, Pakistani security forces responded promptly, effectively, and forcefully, engaging the attackers with heavy retaliatory fire.

Initial reports suggest that the Pakistani response was not only effective but also disproportionate, resulting in reported casualties on the Afghan side.

Several Afghan check posts have also been reportedly severely damaged in the exchange.

Meanwhile, intense clashes have been reported near Bab-e-Dosti, where both Pakistani forces and Afghan Taliban fighters are said to be using heavy weapons, causing powerful blasts that shook the city of Chaman.

Residents on both sides of the border reported hearing continuous shelling and explosions, triggering a wave of fear and panic across local communities.
