PARIS (Kashmir English): French military has said that the details of the Rafale jet downing in Pakistan-India conflict remain uncertain and that several aspects still require verification.

A spokesperson for the military was responding to reports of a Rafale fighter jet being shot down by the Pakistan Air Force during the recent conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, at a press briefing in Paris.

The spokesperson stated that the details of the incident remain uncertain and that several aspects still require verification.

Rafale’s performance

“We are closely monitoring the situation concerning the Rafale’s performance and are in direct contact with our partner, India, to obtain accurate information,” the spokesperson said.

He said that according to reports, hundreds of aircraft were involved in the engagement, adding that the country is keen to learn as much as possible from this combat experience.

“If the reports of the Rafale being downed are confirmed, it would mark the first such incident in the aircraft’s two decades of operational service,” the spokesperson added.
