JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): The AJK Food Authority in Muzaffarabad has intensified its crackdown against substandard and unregistered items.

In a recent operation in Jhelum Valley, the food authority fined and seized a large number of substandard and unregistered food items, beverages, frozen food, oil, ghee, and snacks on Monday.

According to the details, the Food Authority Muzaffarabad team, under the supervision of District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir, conducted the operation.

The food authority team also issued correction notices to several business food operators.

Food Controller Abrar Ahmed Mir said that it is a legal offence to trade in unregistered food items under the Food Authority Act 2017, and efforts are being made to ensure the supply of standard food items.

“Traders selling substandard and unhealthy food items do not deserve any concession, and strict action will be taken against such people,” he said.

The food authority official reiterated that no items can be sold except those approved by the Food Authority.
