ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Ministry of Foreign Office of Pakistan has denied that a meeting is scheduled between US President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Asim Munir, after a Reuters report cited sources saying Munir is expected to travel to Washington in the coming weeks.

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office stated that no verified information is available so far regarding the visit to the United States.

According to the Foreign Office, the Reuters news regarding the visit of the Chief of Defence Forces is not correct, and there is no information about the planning or final decision of any visit; the Pakistani government officially announces official visits. Security sources also confirmed that the Reuters story is fabricated and based on myths.

Additionally, a White House official has also denied the possibility of a third meeting being scheduled between Trump and Asim Munir. While talking to the media, the White House Official stated that “This is not on the President’s calendar at this time,” in response to a query about a possible Trump-Munir meeting.

According to the details, Reuters earlier published that Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to meet United States President Donald Trump, whereas the meeting could focus on a proposed multinational force for post-war security and aid delivery in Gaza.

It is important to note here that Munir has recently met Trump twice. In June, he was invited to a luncheon at the White House, a rare and unprecedented encounter in which a US president welcomed a military leader of Pakistan without the involvement of any civil authority.

Another meeting held in October saw Trump, along with Pakistani Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, whom he called his “favorite” field marshal, for his country’s help in bringing peace to Gaza, together with leaders from other Muslim states.

Pakistan reiterated its stance on the West Asia situation this week during the open debate at the UN Security Council and demanded that there be “a time-bound & irreversible political process” based on UN resolutions that would culminate in the creation of an “independent Palestinian state.”

Islamabad and Washington have also been making efforts to improve relations, amid strained relations over the past few years. They have been pursuing increased trade and investment cooperation as a positive outcome of a favorable tariffs agreement.
