MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): There are widespread reports of Indian mines (small bombs) appearing in streams in various areas of Azad Kashmir due to rains and subsequent flooding in rivers.
“Please do not touch any such object. Those living near the LOC should especially keep their children away from any suspicious object,” read an alert issued by the local authorities in the wake of potential threat.
Flood washed away explosive material
Due to flooding in the Poonch River, there are reports of landmines, mines, and other explosives laid by the Indian and Pakistan armies along the Line of Control being washed away, which are extremely dangerous for human life and property.
The district administration and concerned departments are closely monitoring the situation and safety measures are underway.
The general public, especially children, the elderly, and youth, should not touch any suspicious or explosive object, the authorities said.
This material will be defused by the Civil Defence, as the authorities have directed general public to immediately report any such object to the district or tehsil administration and rescue.
