ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that work is underway to remove the damage caused by the flood as soon as possible, and artificial inflation will not be allowed in the country.

After visiting the affected areas, he informed about the situation and stressed on rehabilitation measures.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the water has now started receding from the flood-affected areas. The federal government, provincial government, and Pakistan Army have taken timely measures together, due to which the loss of life has been reduced.

He said that the priority now is the rehabilitation of the affected people and the repair of the infrastructure. There is an urgent need to adopt a permanent strategy to avoid such flood situations in the future.

The Finance Minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has provided relief by suspending the electricity bills of the flood victims. Since the country is under an IMF program, they were also informed about the situation, and the IMF did not support sending bills to the affected areas.

He added that the government is estimating the damage caused by the floods, and the damage that has been done is what it was. Due to the reduction in fuel prices globally, the effects of inflation will also be limited.
