MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has formed a 5-member committee to investigate the serious administrative and financial problems of the AJK University and submit a report.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, the Acting President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved the formation of a committee to prepare suitable and sustainable recommendations for resolving the financial and administrative problems of the AJK University.
The committee will be headed by the Secretary for Presidential Affairs, with the Secretary for Higher Education, Vice Chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Additional Secretary Finance (Budget) and Registrar of the University of Azad Kashmir as members.
According to the TORs of the issued notification, the committee will prepare workable proposals for matters related to salary, allowances, and adoption of the contributory pension scheme for the university.
The committee will also suggest necessary amendments to the upper age limit of professors to reduce pension liability, if necessary.
The committee will also consider the proposal to grant rights to the university staff and a complete ban on permanent employment for the next five years to solve the financial problems faced by the university.
The committee will also consider the proposal to establish new faculties where necessary and possible approval for the merger of existing faculties and degree programs of a similar nature.
The committee will also recommend a University Act, separate workable administrative and teaching cadres.
It may be recalled that despite the increase in fees by AJK University administration, the financial crisis is not being controlled, and the government now wants changes.
