The report published stated that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is the “Iron Man” and the most influential figure in shaping South Asian security.
The Washington Times wrote that Field Marshal Asim Munir has very strong nerves and is capable of making tough decisions. He is considered a professional, quiet, and disciplined military officer who stays away from self-promotion and politics.
According to the report, Field Marshal Asim Munir’s public popularity increased significantly during the Pakistan-India tension. His qualities make him a natural partner for President Trump.
In the context of deteriorating relations with India, his meeting with Trump was considered to be of exceptional importance.
According to the Washington Times, President Trump intervened and brokered a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. Pakistan thanked the US President for this; however, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi rejected the mediation.
The Field Marshal played an important role in military strategy in the context of threats posed by Afghanistan and Iran. He emphasizes effective action against terrorist organizations, the report added.
The Washington Times claimed that Pakistan arrested the mastermind of the Kabul airport attack and handed him over to the United States, for which President Trump praised Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.
Additionally, the report stated that Pakistan-US relations have further strengthened as a result of cooperation in counter-terrorism, while the Trump administration appears to be active in restoring relations with Pakistan.
