ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Non-filers who purchase with credit cards have come on the radar of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The FBR has started collecting records of credit card transactions.
Shopping worth more than 2 lacs with a credit card will be on the FBR radar. The details of shopping will also be filled in the income tax return form.
The commercial banks have started providing the data to the FBR.
Details of shopping with credit cards will also have to be given in the income tax return. Commercial banks have started sharing data of credit card users.
FBR officials say that taxpayers should submit tax returns honestly by October 15; the extended deadline for submitting tax returns will not be extended further.
The FBR has started sending SMS text messages to tax defaulters.
According to officials, the real income of non-filers will be ascertained through credit card expenses.
Action will be taken against non-filers who make online payments or do business after the deadline.
Notices will be sent to those who spend lakhs through credit cards. It is necessary to provide accurate information about all bank transactions in the return.
