RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Azaad Fact Check has identified and debunked disinformation spread by some reports, including Dawn News, claiming the deadline for completing the work on Rawalpindi’s Kutchery Chowk project has been delayed.
According to Azaad Fact Check, this claim is fake news, and the project is progressing as scheduled.
On April 5, Dawn News reported that the Rawalpindi Kutchery Chowk remodeling project, which was initially estimated at Rs14 billion and later increased to Rs19 billion, has seen its deadline extended from April 30 to the end of May.
A senior official from the Punjab Communication and Works Department explained that the extension was necessary due to pending aesthetic work, lighting, and drainage tasks, despite the structures of two flyovers and three underpasses already being completed.

The news came a day after Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Amir Khattak visited the Kutchery Chowk project site to review ongoing construction work.
The commissioner was briefed on the progress of the project, and it was said that work is continuing at a faster pace in double shifts.
According to the briefing, the overall progress of the project has reached 76 per cent.
Officials said utility ducts are 83 per cent complete, pedestrian bridges 50 per cent, tube wells 96 per cent, and retaining walls 98 per cent complete.
The commissioner asked the concerned agencies to complete the work as per the stipulated timeline.
He directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to complete all work on time and in accordance with the quality standards.
The project began in November last year with an expected time of completion of 18 months.
