ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Lok Virsa Islamabad hosted a photo exhibition to depict the harrowing realities of Indian atrocities in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The event was part of the series of cultural events to commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day. The exhibition drew visitors from across the capital.

The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and at the same time depicted Indian atrocities in the occupied valley.

The event reaffirmed solidarity with the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

Atrocities in occupied Kashmir

The photographic exhibition depicted the harrowing realities of Indian atrocities in the occupied territory. The powerful images stirred emotions among visitors, with many stopping to discuss the plight of the Kashmiri people. Seeing the pictures was heartbreaking as it reminded them of the sacrifices made by Kashmiris every day.

A key attraction of the event was the artisan-at-work pavilion, where Kashmiri craftsmen showcased their expertise in traditional wood carving, paper art, and intricate embroidery.

The stalls displayed beautifully handcrafted walnut wood boxes, exquisitely woven shawls and ornate mirror frames, drawing admiration from the visitors. The Kashmiri shawls were masterpieces. The fine needlework and vibrant colours reflected the dedication of Kashmiri artisans.

The event also featured soulful Kashmiri musical performances, where artists dressed in traditional attire performed on folk songs and played classical Kashmiri instruments.

A seminar on Kashmiri cultural heritage brought together scholars and activists, who discussed the importance of preserving Kashmir’s identity.

Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed across Pakistan and AJK on February 5, to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren and sisters in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.

Kashmiri have been struggling against Indian occupation for the last over seven decades with full vigour. They believe that the Indian unconstitutional steps and atrocities could never stop them from liberating the homeland.
