ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Electricity prices are set to increase for consumers after a hike in the prices of petroleum products.
The request for the monthly fuel adjustment for February filed by the CPPA will be heard tomorrow.
The request is likely to increase electricity by Rs 1.64 per unit for one month. If approved, consumers will have an additional burden of more than Rs 14 billion.
The increase will apply to electricity consumers across the country, including Karachi.
According to the CPPA, 7 billion 696 million units of electricity were generated in February. 7 billion 427 million units of electricity were supplied to the discos, the cost of electricity supplied to the discos was Rs 8.37 per unit.
The cost of electricity generation was Rs 8.15 per unit, while the reference cost for February was Rs 6.73 per unit.
