NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Following the directions of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmirs (AJK), the Dudh Gai search operation for the bodies of the martyrs of the Dudh Gai glacier tragedy continues after its seventeenth day. The joint operation, carried out by the Pakistan Army and civil institutions, is ongoing with full commitment and coordination.
Deputy Commissioner Neelum, Nadeem Janjua, along with Brigadier, Superintendent of Police, Director SDMA, and Director Emergency Services 1122, visited the families of the victims and assured them that all efforts are being made to recover the bodies soon. The Dudh Gai search operation commander briefed the officials and families on the progress and assured that recovery is expected shortly.
Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Ahmed Janjua stated that the government is taking the matter seriously. He confirmed that a temporary road has been completed up to the accident site to make the process of Dudh Gai search operation faster and more efficient. He further added that the operation is being carried out with sincere efforts and deep sympathy for the affected families.
During a briefing near the Dudh Gai stream, the Deputy Commissioner expressed confidence in the ongoing efforts. He said the administration is determined and hopeful for success in recovering the missing bodies trapped under the glacier. Director of Operations SDMA, Saeed Rehman Qureshi, and Director Emergency Services Rescue 1122 also held a three-day visit to review possible recovery methods from the glacier-covered area in Taobat.
Deputy Commissioner Janjua, Superintendent Police Khawaja Muhammad Siddique, and other officials met the grieving families in Phulawai to offer condolences and support. They also visited community elders in Taobat Bala, Phulawai, and Halmat areas to keep them informed about the ongoing search.
A new road to the glacier site has been constructed by the Public Works Department under government instructions, allowing heavy machinery to reach the affected area for recovery work. The State Disaster Management Authority has played a key role in ensuring smooth coordination between departments, made possible due to the special focus of Deputy Commissioner Neelum.
During their discussions, both DC Neelum and SDMA officials expressed hope that the missing bodies would be recovered soon in the Dudh Gai search operation. The local community thanked all institutions involved, including SDMA and the Pakistan Army, for their continued efforts. Families also appreciated the dedication shown in “Dudh Gai search operation” and offered prayers for its success.
