COPENHAGEN, Denmark (Kashmir English): Following the footsteps of Australia, Denmark has also decided to impose a social media ban on under-age children.
According to a news agency, Denmark has decided to ban children under 15 from using social media platforms.
The Danish government has said it is preparing a plan to restrict internet access for young children, which will first be presented to the assembly as a bill.
Consensus on social media ban
This bill has the full support of members of both the ruling and opposition parties and could be implemented next year after formal approval.
To verify age, Denmark plans to introduce a digital evidence app, which will ensure compliance with the ban.
Currently, the contents of the bill are not available, but it is likely that children aged 13 to 15 can use their parents’ accounts.
However, children aged 13 to 15 will not be allowed to create their own accounts on social media platforms.
It should be noted that 98% of children in Denmark use their own social media accounts and unknowingly fall prey to criminal gangs.
On the other hand, a recent survey revealed that children are suffering from anxiety due to social media use.
