Ahsan Iqbal says defence budget to increase for upcoming FY 2025-26

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has mentioned major budget 2025-26 priorities, including an increase in defense spending, and relief to the people.

During a meeting with a delegation led by the Institution of Engineers Pakistan Secretary General Amir Zameer and also Secretary Israr Uddin, Ahsan Iqbal mentioned to the group that the government is going to prioritize national security and ensure some relief to the people.

While talking in the meeting, the Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal says there is no pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the budget 2025-26, the defense budget will be increased, and relief will be provided to the people.

On this occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said that the IMF is satisfied with the government’s measures, there is no IMF pressure regarding the budget, and relief will be provided to the people.

He said that the government will not take any action that will affect national unity and solidarity.

The Federal Minister said that in view of the country’s security situation, the defense budget will be increased, we will complete all water projects, including Diamer Bhasha Dam, soon, so that India does not take advantage, we will provide funds to all projects on a priority basis.

It should be noted that on May 6 and 7, India also targeted the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project during its aggression, which damaged part of the dam.

After which the government of Pakistan has been focusing on building new dam projects so that Pakistan has enough water reservoir.
