ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The fatalities due to floods and rains of the current year have reached 910, as per a report published by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
In the report, it was confirmed that three more lost their lives during the last 24 hours. Two of them belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one to Punjab. They were all from Malakand, Buner, and Mandi Bahauddin.
Since June 26, there have been 910 deaths and 1,044 injuries reported throughout the country. Of the deaths, 442 were due to flooding, 252 due to collapsed buildings, and 65 due to drowning.
The NDMA reports that 25 individuals lost their lives in landslides, 23 by electric shock, and 26 due to lightning strikes.
Most deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 504, followed by Punjab with 234. There were 58 deaths in Sindh, and Balochistan had 26. Gilgit-Baltistan had 41, Azad Kashmir had 38, and Islamabad had 9.

According to the data, 654 in Punjab, 218 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 78 in Sindh. Balochistan had 5 injuries, Gilgit-Baltistan 52, Azad Kashmir 34, and Islamabad 3.
7,850 houses have been destroyed by the rains and floods so far. 1,945 houses have been destroyed, while 5,905 were partially damaged. The monsoon has also killed 6,180 livestock.
In a separate development, the NDMA issued a warning that a rain-producing system over the Indian states of Gujarat and Rajasthan is likely to hit Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab.
The NDMA spokesman informed that these rains can persist off and on up to September 10. Heavy to very heavy rain will fall in Koh-e-Suleiman and southern Punjab. Urban flooding can occur in a few locations in Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab.
