HATTIAN BALA (Kashmir English): The local court in Hattian Bala has taken strict action against senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former candidate for Member Municipal/Town Committee Hattian Bala, Sheikh Khatib, over illegal construction near Jigal Chashma.
The court has issued an arrest order for Sheikh Khatib, citing violation of court orders and notification (Section 144) of the Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Valley.
As per details, the construction in question was carried out despite a court order issued on October 23, 2020, and the administration’s inability to take timely action due to security duties on the Day of Ashura.
However, a local journalist reported the illegal construction, which led the City Police Station Hattian Bala to take action and submit a formal report to the court, leading to the issuance of the arrest order.
The police are currently searching for Sheikh Khatib, but he has not been made available to law enforcement agencies yet.
The continued silence of Sheikh Mumtaz, the acting chairman of the Municipal Committee Hattian Bala, is facing severe criticism in public circles, with some interpreting it as a case of preferential treatment based on political affiliation.
The public is demanding equal application of the law, warning that failure to do so may damage the dignity of the judiciary and erode trust in the rule of law.
