MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court has issued an interim order suspending the notification regarding the biometric attendance of field staff.
The notification dated January 31, 2025, regarding the biometric attendance of field staff, was halted till the next hearing, which will be on March 12, 2025.
In the hearing presided over by the Chief Justice, the court held that the petitioner’s position is prima facie worth considering and that this decision is necessary to avoid any irreparable harm.
“Before passing any order regarding admission of the writ petition, it deems appropriate to invite para-wise comments from the respondents, therefore, a copy of the instant writ petition along with appended documents shall be sent to them for filing the same,” the court order read.
The AJK High Court has kept this decision subject to possible objections from the other side.
Furthermore, the court order said, “By dispensing with the requirement of Rule 34 of the High Court Procedure Rules, it is hereby ordered that the impugned order dated 31.01.2025 to the extent of Field Staff shall remain suspended till next date of hearing, subject to objection by the other side.”
This order comes against the backdrop of the petitioners stating that biometric attendance is not possible for field staff and that its implementation will create unnecessary difficulties.
The court has sought the government’s response for further action.
