PATIKKA (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Food Authority Patikka launched a major crackdown on unhealthy and substandard juice boxes sold in Patikka, Muzaffarabad.
During the operation, the Food Authority team, Farrukh Rafique Mughal and Sheikh Akram, seized a large consignment of substandard and unlicensed juice boxes.
The driver did not have the required documents and laboratory report on the Food Authority not only seized the stock of juice and sealed it in the warehouse.
The seized juice was to be sold in different markets across Azad Kashmir. It should be remembered that in Azad Kashmir, under the Food Authority Act 2017 and Pure Food Regulations 2019, the manufacture and sale of unregistered or unlicensed items is a serious crime, and a license and permit from the Food Authority are mandatory for business.
District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir, while discussing the operation, said that the Food Authority is always active to provide quality and safe food to the public.
He clarified that unregistered and uncertified items will not be allowed to be sold under any circumstances, and strict action will be taken against violators.
Food business operators can only sell food items that have passed the laboratory and are registered with the Food Authority. Citizens should immediately report any substandard, unregistered, or poorly sanitized items to the Food Authority’s helpline number 1280, so that timely action can be taken to protect the public from unsafe food.
