NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government’s ‘computerized land record centers’ project is nearing completion, under which 13 digital land record centers are regularly providing services to the public.
Kashmir Digital learned that the Information Technology Board and Board of Revenue Azad Kashmir have already digitized records of more than 1,100 villages across 13 digital record centers. Land records of more than 140,000 owners have also been computerized.
Digital computerized land record centers established across the state are helping citizens by providing instant land record-related documents, the officials said.
As per details, out of 62 villages in Athmuqam tehsil of Neelum district, the land records of 45 villages have been computerized. The centers have so far issued more than 1.3 million computerized copies, which has brought transparency in land ownership and other legal matters.
Due to the special interest and efforts of Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and IT Minister Sardar Zia Al Qamar, citizens are not facing any kind of obstacles regarding land ownership.
Digital Record Centers are transferring all legal documents related to the Revenue Department such as Hibanama, Bainama, Death, Inheritance, Death of Sharia Heirs, and other matters to the modern record system.
The people have demanded that a Land Record Authority be established in Azad Kashmir on the model of Punjab so that all landowners can get land records securely and transparently without any modified records.
The Land Record Center established in Tehsil Aath Muqam is no less than a blessing for the citizens, and there is a dire need to establish such centers in other tehsils as well, a citizen told Kashmir Digital correspondent in Neelum Valley.
