MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain and snowfall in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours, due to which the intensity of cold is likely to increase further.

Clouds fell in different parts of Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, which made the weather pleasant; however, a significant increase in the intensity of cold was recorded in the upper areas due to rain and snowfall.

Due to the rain and snowfall that occurred late last night, the temperature in many upper areas of Azad Kashmir fell below the freezing point, due to which the situation became more serious.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms has also been continuing since late last night. The rain has made the weather cold and pleasant; however, the low-lying areas have been flooded due to continuous rain, which is affecting normal life.

Rain is expected in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur. Similarly, rain with snowfall has been predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, and Kohistan, which may further increase the intensity of cold in these areas.

Rain and snowfall on the mountains continue in most of the upper and central areas of Azad Kashmir, due to which the weather has become colder. Communication roads have been closed due to snowfall in several places, which is causing severe difficulties in transportation.

According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall is likely to continue in the upper areas of Azad Kashmir for the next 12 hours, while rain is likely to continue in the central areas. The department has warned that strong winds, thunderstorms, and more rain and snowfall may continue in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours, as a result of which the intensity of cold is expected to increase further.
