LONDON (Kashmir English): Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Saeed Akram, has called for immediate international action on the Kashmir issue.
The Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram attended a prestigious luncheon hosted by Dr. Barrister Tariq Mahmood during his important visit to London.
During his visit, he also visited Lincoln’s Inn, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Royal Courts of Justice.
The event was attended by prominent legal and government figures from the UK, including Barrister Tariq Khokhar, Barrister Azar Chauhan, Additional Chief Secretary Raja Amjad Pervez, Barrister Armaan Alam, Solicitor Muhammad Musa, Barrister Qamar Bilal, Barrister Muhammad Ahmed, Chaudhry Noshirwan, Chaudhry Zulqarnain and Raja Iftikhar Ali Khan.
In his address, the Chief Justice praised the achievements of Pakistani and Kashmiri lawyers in the UK and called them ambassadors of justice who are raising our collective voice in the courts of the world.
Speaking on the Kashmir dispute, he stressed that the issue should be raised beyond regional politics and highlighted in global legal forums, adding that justice delayed is justice denied.
The Chief Justice announced that next year he would personally chair an international legal conference to unite global support for a peaceful and just solution.
The Chief Justice said that law knows no borders and that when human rights are violated, it is the duty of the legal community around the world to stand united.
The luncheon concluded with a joint commitment between the UK and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to promote legal cooperation, mentoring programs and human rights.
