BAGH (Kashmir English): As both Pakistan and India are on the brink of war following the Pahalgam attack in Indian occupied Kashmir, the authorities in Azad Kashmir have started preparations for any possible emergency.

As per details, Rescue 1122 and the Civil Defense Department Bagh trained the students in schools on providing immediate assistance in case of emergency and saving precious lives.

In this training session, rescue officers practically taught the youth first aid, rescue operations, and emergency response skills.

Amid the rising tensions on the Line of Control (LoC), Rescue 1122 Bagh officer Muhammad Ayaz Bazmi and Civil Defense officials provided practical training to students in basic life-saving skills.

On this occasion, the participants were introduced to first aid, moving the injured to a safe place, fire extinguishing procedures, CPR, and other emergency response measures.

The emergency training sessions have already taken place in 13 schools in Muzaffarabad, the capital city of AJK.

“In an emergency, schools are the first to be affected, which is why we are starting evacuation training with schoolchildren,” Abdul Basit Moughal, a trainer from Pakistan’s Civil Defence directorate, told AFP.

Earlier, AJK Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Chaudhry announced a Rs1 billion emergency response fund and ordered the stockpiling of enough food and health supplies to 13 constituencies along the LoC for two months.

Authorities had closed all religious seminaries [Madrasas] in the region for 10 days, officials said on Thursday.

The concerned departments have also been instructed to move equipment to areas near the LoC to repair any damage to roads, the Azad Kashmir prime minister’s office said.

The premier also instructed rescue and civil defence authorities to be on high alert and work closely with the Pakistan army to deal with any emergency.
