LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started the process to change the name of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium for which tenders have been formally invited.
According to sources, PCB has formally started work to sell the naming rights of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. In this regard, tenders have been invited from commercial companies.
This will be the first time that the historic Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will be associated with the name of a private entity.
According to PCB officials, selling the naming rights of cricket stadiums is part of a policy to enhance commercial revenue. The move is part of the policy aimed at generating revenue from cricket grounds across the country.
“Now it’s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium’s turn”
It should be noted that the process of selling the naming rights of cricket grounds was started from Karachi. And now it’s Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium’s turn.
Karachi National Stadium has been renamed National Bank Cricket Arena. This will create sponsorship opportunities.
Sports grounds around the world are being associated with the names of sponsors. And this decision of PCB also follows this global commercial trend. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is considered among international sports grounds.
