KARACHI (Kashmir English): The recent heavy rains and floods in the country have affected construction activities, leading to a decrease in cement prices and its demand.
According to a report by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, a bag of cement has become cheaper by Rs 36 compared to last year, and the average price of a bag of cement in the country was recorded at Rs 1,412.
A year ago, the average price of a 50-kg bag of cement was Rs 1,448.
FBS says that in some cities, a bag of cement is being sold for up to Rs 1,510; however, in Islamabad, it is Rs 1,367 per bag, and in Rawalpindi, it is Rs 1,372.
According to the report, the price of cement per sack in Gujranwala is Rs 1440, Sialkot Rs 1430, Lahore Rs 1443, Faisalabad Rs 1370, Sargodha Rs 1400, Multan Rs 1409, Bahawalpur Rs 1440 and Karachi Rs 1367.
It has been further reported that the price per sack of cement in Hyderabad is Rs 1427, Sukkur Rs 1465, Larkana Rs 1407, Peshawar Rs 1350, Bannu Rs 1340, Quetta Rs 1510 and Khuzdar Rs 1483.
