Cabinet applauds FM Asim Munir’s mediation efforts between US and Iran

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English):  The cabinet has applauded the efforts of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, for mediating between the United States (US) and Iran.

The Cabinet members showed their appreciation of him through desk thumping. The world has recognized both Pakistan’s and Field Marshal’s achievements, which resulted in positive worldwide reactions to the ceasefire.

The UN Secretary General António Guterres has announced through his spokesperson that he welcomes the US-Iran two-week ceasefire agreement.

He has called on all involved parties to establish long-lasting peace solutions that will bring stability to the Middle East region. The German Chancellor, along with Friedrich Merz and the UN Secretary General, both expressed their approval of the two-week ceasefire agreement, which the US and Iran established.

The parties announced that they need to achieve permanent peace in order to end hostilities permanently during the upcoming days. The ceasefire received praise from the Malaysian Prime Minister, who also recognized Pakistan’s contributions to its achievement.

He congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his dedicated diplomatic work, which led to the vital ceasefire agreement. I express our deep appreciation to Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif through our sincere congratulations for their diplomatic work, which created this moment.

He posted on X that Pakistan had achieved this moment through its diplomatic work. Malaysia offers its full support to this endeavor and will work with others who share this mission, according to PM Ibrahim.

PM Telephonic Conversation with the President of Iran

 Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, this afternoon.

During their warm and cordial conversation that lasted for over forty-five minutes, the Prime Minister conveyed his deep appreciation for the wisdom and sagacity of the Iranian leadership in agreeing to the ceasefire and for accepting the Prime Minister’s offer to host negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in Islamabad later this week. He also conveyed his respects to His Eminence Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister and appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani leadership to bring about a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. and conveyed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan.

He confirmed that Iran would be participating in the negotiations in Islamabad. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
