ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has warned registered families of online fraud through fake calls or messages.

The warning issued by BISP stated that any SMS or phone calls received on mobile phones demanding contact on a given number or sharing personal information regarding money coming from BISP are fraudulent.

The warning stated that such messages should not be responded to at all. “All BISP messages are received only from 8171. Do not trust any other number.”

It is worth noting that the Benazir Income Support Program introduced a new system for payment of funds to registered citizens, ‘Social Protection Wallets’, which aims to make the system more transparent and easier.

BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid said in her video message that the Benazir Income Support Program has launched Social Protection Wallets for registered citizens to make the payment system more transparent and easier.

The Chairperson said that under the Social Protection Wallets system, free SIM cards have started to be distributed among registered women.

Women should go to the nearest BISP office or designated camps with their original ID card and mobile phone, where after biometric verification, they will be provided with a free mobile SIM through which their Social Protection Wallet will be activated.

She clarified in the video message that women should not pay anyone to get a SIM because it is absolutely free.

“Social Protection Wallets on the SIM will only be created by BISP, so do not contact any unauthorized person or organization.”

The Chairperson further said that all future payments will be transferred through these Social Protection Wallets.
