BHIMBER (Kashmir English): Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) authorities crack down on price hikes to enforce Ramadan price control, led by SDM Muhammad Isa Baig, on March 3, fining shopkeepers for overpricing and warning of strict action to enforce Ramadan price control.

To control inflation and prevent overpricing during Ramadan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Muhammad Isa Baig led an inspection of local markets, accompanied by a police delegation. The authorities found shopkeepers who overcharged products and gave immediate fines to the violators, although they provided warnings to the others.

The SDM Muhammad Isa Baig stated on the occasion that breaking price control regulations would lead to serious legal consequences. The authorities declared that no one would be allowed to make illegal profit, particularly since Ramadan created increased demand for necessary items.

The market inspections increased during Ramadan as ordered by Mirza Arshad Mahmood Jarral in his role as Deputy Commissioner, special directive. The initiative functions to guarantee prices reflect actual value while shielding consumers from commercially harmful behaviour.

Authorities inspected key business areas, including Samahni Chowk and Mirpur Chowk to examine fruit and vegetable vendors and meat shops, together with grocery stores, bakeries and hotels. The SDM joined police personnel in issuing a firm statement to shopkeepers which announced possible legal action and arrest as penalties for price control violations.

Healthcare professionals conducted market inspections through an initiative designed to protect prices while securing fair marketplace procedures during Ramadan. The authorities ordered all traders along with shopkeepers to follow official pricing guidelines while preventing price alterations.

Bhimber district awaits multiple price inspections throughout Ramadan due to continuous enforcement of price control regulations. People are requested by the administration to share information about price irregularities or excessive pricing for the prompt initiation of corrective measures.

Through this initiative, the government demonstrates its dedication to consumer protection along with affordable pricing and market regulations specifically during times of heightened demand.
