ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Bangladesh is likely to visit Pakistan in the third week of next month (May) for a five-match T20I series with a possibility of Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad hosting international cricket after 17 years.
The matches are likely to be played on May 25, 27, 30, June 1 and 3.
As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to organise first two Pakistan-Bangladesh T20Is at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, the games will mark Faisalabad hosting an international cricket event after a hiatus of 17 years.
Lahore likely to host three T20Is
Faisalabad last hosted an ODI on April 11, 2008 between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Lahore is likely to host the remaining three T20Is.
Originally the series was planned for three ODIs and three T20Is but later the tour format was revised after hectic discussions between the PCB and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The revised series format now includes just five T20Is to align with preparations for the 2025 Asia Cup and 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
Pakistan and Bangladesh have met 19 times in T20 format, with Pakistan maintaining its lead with 16 wins to Bangladesh’s three.
The Pak-Bangladesh series will take place after the conclusion of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is scheduled to be played from April 11 to May 18 across four cities of Pakistan.
Bangladesh last visited the neighbouring country in 2024 for a two-match Test series, where they thumped the hosts 2-0. The May tour marks their second consecutive visit in as many years.
