NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): Bangladesh on Monday suspended visa and all consular services for Indians for an indefinite number in the Delhi High Commission and Agartala Assistant High Commission.
The development came days after the assassination of youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi, following which relations between the two sides went into a free fall.
A senior foreign ministry official in Dhaka confirmed the suspension of the issuance of visas at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and the Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, all consular & visa services from the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi are temporarily suspended until further notice,” the Bangladesh mission stated.
Earlier, a Hindu extremist group held a demonstration breaching the security fence at the Bangladesh High Commission in India’s capital city.
On Sunday, India suspended visa services at the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Bangladesh’s Chattogram for an indefinite period.
