Bangladesh beat Pakistan in ODI series decider

DHAKA (Kashmir English): Bangladesh beat Pakistan in the final game of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, here on Sunday.

Pakistan were all out for 179 in the last over in their pursuit of 291 runs target. Bangladesh won the thrilling third and final ODI in Dhaka by 11 runs, clinching the series 2-1.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted a competitive 290/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Tanzid Hasan scored career’s maiden century (107).

Pakistan captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, provided the initial breakthrough, but the hosts maintained a steady run rate throughout their innings.

Pakistan in their chase remained under pressure from the beginning. The pursuit of the 291-run target encountered early setbacks with the touring side losing both openers and the experienced Mohammad Rizwan early, leaving them reeling at 17/3 in the opening overs.

Following his five-wicket haul in the series opener, Nahid Rana struck again to dismiss Ghazi Ghori (29), breaking a 50-run partnership.

At one time Pakistan were struggling at 69/4 after 15.3 overs, with Salman Ali Agha and Abdul Samad attempting to steady the innings.
