MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Weather Update for Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Azad Kashmir weather today is overall stormy, rainy, cloudy and hazy.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain and snowfall until March 2, prompting authorities to warn residents and tourists about travel disruptions and extreme cold.  

According to the Meteorological Department Pakistan weather alert, the powerful westerly weather system will bombard upper regions with heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, strong gales, and snow accumulation.

Previously, the weather in AJK was mostly mostly rainy throughout the region.

 

Rainfall/Snowfall Warning: The weather is rainy, cloudy and hazy. Winds are light and fluctuating; stormy weather is to be expected.

Landslide Risk: There can be a high risk of landslides as rain and snow are expected. Tourists and locals are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.

Fog Advisory: Dense fog may reduce visibility in the early mornings and late evenings, affecting travel. Winds are light, especially in the Azad Kashmir area, and are hazy and fluctuating.

 

Azad Kashmir Weather:

Today, thunderstorms are likely in Azad Kashmir. The high temperature is 54F, and winds are ESE at 5 to 10 mph. The chance of rain is 90 per cent. For the night scattered thunderstorms are expected early, with an overcast overnight with occasional rain likely later. A low of 46F with light and variable winds and a 90 per cent chance of rain is expected.

As of current the weather is rainy, and precipitation is at 75 per cent, humidity is at 92 per cent and the wind blows at 4mph.

Regional Weather Details:

Muzaffarabad:

The capital faces thunderstorms and rain as of current with a high near 60F being observed. Winds are light and variable. The chance of rain stands at a whopping 100 per cent for the day. As for the night, showers and thundershowers are expected early, and then an overcast overnight with occasional rain is expected later. A low of 51F with light and variable winds and a 90 per cent chance of rain is also expected.

Neelum Valley:

Neelum Valley is cold and snowy. A heavy snow this morning will mix with rain at times this afternoon. A high of 42F with light and variable winds is observed. The chance of rain stands at 100 per cent. 1 to 3 inches of snow is also expected, mixing with the snow. This will make the roads slippery and extremely cold.

For the night, snow is also likely. A low of near 35F with light and variable winds is expected. The chance of snow is at a massive 100 per cent. Snow will be accumulating approximately 1 to 3 inches.

Rawalakot:

Rawalakot faces thundershowers this afternoon following a period of morning rain. A high of 53F with SSE winds at 5 to 10 mph is observed. The chance of rain is at a high 90 per cent for the day. For the night, rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain overnight. It will make everything hazy, a low of 44F and light and variable winds are also expected. The chance of rain is at 90 per cent. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch can be expected.

Bagh:

Bagh faces rainy weather. Periods of rain and a high of 57F are expected. Winds are light and variable. Chances of rain are at a high 90 per cent for the day. Rainfall of half an inch can be expected. For the night, rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain overnight. A hazy weather with a low of 49F and light and variable winds can be expected. The chance of rain is at a massive 90 per cent for the night. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch can be expected.

Kotli:

Kotli faces thunderstorms. A high of 64F with winds that are E at 5 to 10 mph can be observed. Chances of rain are at a high 90 per cent for the day. For the night, scattered thunderstorms this evening are expected. Then later cloudy weather with rain late at night is likely. A low of 54F with light and variable winds is expected along with an 80 per cent chance of rain.

AJK will experience a mix of stormy, rainy, hazy and cloudy conditions with varying cool temperatures. Residents are advised to dress warmly, especially in higher-altitude areas, and carry umbrellas in regions expecting showers. Travellers to Neelum Valley and other high-altitude areas should remain cautious of road closures or landslides in case of snow showers or rain. Tourists are encouraged to stay safe and plan their activities accordingly.
