MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, has announced that the Azad Kashmir Supreme Court golden jubilee celebrations will be held in a grand and dignified manner in May.

To mark this historic occasion, a two-day judicial conference will be held in Muzaffarabad this May. The event will be attended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, chief justices from all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as some international delegates.

Presiding over a meeting to discuss the conference’s arrangements, Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram stated that the event would highlight Azad Kashmir’s judicial history, its tourism potential, and the ongoing struggle for Kashmir’s freedom. He emphasised that all departments must work together and participate to make the Supreme Court’s Golden Jubilee celebrations a memorable and historic event. He also assured that distinguished guests from across Pakistan and abroad would be welcomed with the utmost hospitality on this occasion.

The meeting was attended by Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem, Justice Raza Ali Khan, Additional Registrar of the Supreme Court Malik Ehtisham, Secretary Services Zafar Mahmood, Secretary Law Chaudhry Sajjad, Secretary Information Adnan Khurshid, Secretary Tourism Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, Secretary Local Government Shahid Ayub, Director Information Raja Amjad Munhas, Additional Secretary Services Basharat Nabi, and other senior officials.

The Chief Justice also announced that special efforts would be made to raise awareness about the Kashmir issue during the judicial conference. In addition, a promotional campaign for the Golden Jubilee celebrations will begin on print, electronic, and social media from May 1.

Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem highlighted the conference’s historical importance, stressing that it must be widely publicised on as many levels as possible. He also added that the participation of international delegates would send a positive message to the entire world.

Justice Raza Ali Khan remarked that holding such an event in Muzaffarabad would demonstrate to the world the stark contrast between Indian Illegally occupied Kashmir (IIOJK) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). While decisions for the people of IIOJK are made in Delhi, Azad Kashmir has its own independent Supreme Court, reflecting its commitment to justice and self-governance.
