MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Joint Awami Action Committee’s recent demand to release Mujtaba Bande, Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) representative, has drawn criticism, causing concerns about the real agenda of the committee, Analyst Ghulam Ullah Awan stated during a podcast with Kashmir Digital.
According to Ghulamullah Awan, through this demand, they are going to make the Awami Action Committee unpopular among the people because it is exceeding its mandate.
Awan asserted that the primary objective of the committee was relating to the specific demands, and they were not supposed to raise the demand for the release of Bande.
The situation is complicated further by the fact that the entire leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was arrested prior to February 8, 2025 but not a single member of the committee took a stand, but now the committee is supporting the release of a person who is accused of using abusive language against the Pakistani Army.
Such a sudden change in tone raised eyebrows, making some curious about the real agenda of the Committee behind this demand.
This brings them into the ambit of selective outrage and inconsistency in the committee. As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Awami Action Committee will respond to the criticism and whether they will rethink their priorities.
