ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has promised to provide new jobs to employees sacked from the digital media outlet, Nukta, within 48 hours.
Addressing the National Assembly session on Wednesday, the federal minister said that the government is taking effective steps to protect the rights of media workers.
“The journalists who have been dismissed from the Nukta platform will be given jobs again within the next 48 hours,” he told the house. He further added that some media houses have dismissed journalists from their jobs without any prior notice, which is regrettable.

The Information Minister said that the issue will be raised vigorously in a meeting with media owners next week.
“The government is paying dues to media houses on time so that there is no obstacle in providing journalists with their financial rights,” he claimed.
Moreover, Tarar also condemned the recent attack on the National Press Club in Islamabad, adding that discussions are ongoing with the Interior Ministry regarding the issue, and a report will be submitted by tomorrow.
Attaullah Tarar said that he considers all journalist organizations as his constituency and resolving their issues is the top priority of the government. He assured that the protection of the rights of all journalists will be ensured in every possible way.
Nukta sacked employees
Earlier today, Nukta, a digital media outlet, announced that they have sacked at least 37 employees from the organization.
The sources said that the measure is taken due to the growing financial crisis with Malik Riaz, the business tycoon and owner of Nukta.
On their LinkedIn account, Nukta administration wrote, “In light of recent restructuring at Nukta, we have taken the difficult decision to reduce our Pakistan workforce, impacting 37 colleagues.”
“We do not take such decisions lightly, and this is a difficult step for us – one that takes into consideration our commitment to long-term sustainability and vision for building the most impactful digital media platforms in the region,” the statement read.
We look forward to the day when we can invite our impacted colleagues to join us, the post stated.
