ATC Lahore awards 10-year jail terms to PTI leaders in May 9 cases

LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has sentenced PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid and other central leadership to 10 years in prison in the cases (May 9 cases) of Gulberg and Naseerabad police stations.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood-ul-Rasheed, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, and Ijaz Chaudhry were sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s challan was not presented in both cases.

Four accused, including Mian Aslam Iqbal, have been declared absconders in the case of burning police vehicles, while 12 accused have been declared absconders in the case of burning containers.

The trial of 29 accused in the case of burning police vehicles and 24 accused in the case of burning containers has been completed.

Out of the 14 cases registered in Lahore, verdicts have been issued in 7 cases so far.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed delivered the verdict in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.

33 accused, including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, have been nominated in the May 9 cases.

The cross-examination of the statements of all 41 prosecution witnesses in the case has been completed.

The Accused includes  Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmood Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Irfan, Usman Siddique, Muhammad Razzaq, Waqar Bashir, Altaf Hussain, Ghulam Qasim, Hafiz Muhammad Mashhood, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Zeeshan, Adnan Zakir, and Ahmed Hassan.

The other accused named in the cases were Shahid Mahmood, Ishtiaq alias Bhola, Muhammad Wasim Gul, Muhammad Altaf, Muhammad Waqas, Haider Ali, Sanaullah, Muhammad Taimur, Nayir Irfan, Rashid Akram, Shoaib, Umair, Mian Khizr, Arif Hussain, and Haider Ali Khan.
