ABU DHABI (Kashmir English): Afghanistan has won the toss and opted to bat first against Hong Kong in the opening match (Afghanistan vs Hong Kong) of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Tuesday.

Afghanistan takes on Hong Kong in the Asia Cup 2025 Group B to seek their first Asia Cup title after four attempts.

Afg vs HKG Playing XI

Afghanistan (Playing XI) – Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK), Sediqullah Atal, Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan (C), Noor Ahmad, AM Ghazanfar, Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Hong Kong, China (Playing XI) – Yasim Murtaza (C), Zeeshan Ali (WK), Nizakat Khan, Anshy Rath, Babar Hayat, Ehsan Khan, Kalhan Challu, Ayush Shukla, Aizaz Khan, Ateeq Iqbal, Kinchit Shah.

Pitch Condition

No T20Is have been played in Abu Dhabi this year, and the pitch surprisingly has 3.5mm of grass. Bowlers hitting these areas could get some assistance.

Russel Arnold notes the surface looks flat and shouldn’t crumble, though Afghanistan’s spinners remain a threat. In the last ILT20 edition, 180 was the winning mark, which Afghanistan may target before unleashing their bowlers.
