MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The participants at an event here Tuesday called for massive rally on February 5 so as to condemn Indian atrocities in the occupied Kashmir.
A press conference in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day was organized under the auspices of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter. Advocate Parvez Ahmed Shah, Secretary General, presiding over the event.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the press conference was attended by Khawaja Muhammad Farooq, Central Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf; Dr Raja Sajjad, Director, Kashmir Liberation Cell; Ghulam Hassan Butt, Chairman, Muhajireen Representative Forum; Raja Aftab, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Muzaffarabad; Shaukat Javed Mir, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir; Yasir Naqvi, central leader of Muslim Conference; and Sumaiya Sajid, besides other political, social and representatives of the Azad Kashmir government.
Special prayers were offered for the late President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan, and participants paid rich tribute to his lifelong services for the Kashmir cause.
Public gathering on February 5
The participants jointly announced that a grand rally and public gathering would be organized on February 5 to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with full unity and vigour.
Speakers reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, clearly affirmed by numerous United Nations resolutions.
They maintained that the disputed status of Kashmir is an established international reality and cannot be altered through unilateral measures by any party.
The speakers said India’s illegal actions of August 5, 2019 neither changed the international status of Jammu and Kashmir nor rendered the UN resolutions ineffective.
The press conference strongly condemned the ongoing grave human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances.
The speakers called upon the international community to move beyond mere statements and fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by playing an effective and practical role.
They urged the United Nations to take concrete steps, in line with its own resolutions, for a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
