ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has sought urgent UN intervention as Human Rights situation in occupied Kashmir has deteriorated immensely.

The people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to suffer due to the unrelenting military and police siege and draconian black laws imposed by Indian government in the occupied territory since August 5, 2019.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement, said the unresolved Kashmir dispute is the root cause of tension and unrest between India and Pakistan.

He criticized India for not fulfilling its promise to the Kashmiri people about granting them the right to self-determination to decide their political future in accordance with the UN resolutions.

Situation in Occupied Kashmir

The situation in Occupied Kashmir continues to deteriorate as India follows in the footsteps of its ideological counterpart, Israel, in its attempt to forcibly annex the Muslim-majority territory.

Indian police raided dozens of bookshops in Occupied Kashmir, seizing hundreds of copies of books written by founder of Jamaat-e-Islami and religious scholar Abul Ala Maududi.

The APHC has called for urgent intervention by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to resolve the Kashmir issue.

APHC spokesman Minhas made the appeal in a memorandum addressed to the UN Secretary-General.

He urged Antonio Guterres to use his good offices to halt the political injustices and atrocities perpetrated by the Indian government against the Kashmiris.

He deplored that the subjugated people of Occupied Kashmir have been deprived of all fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, Indian police arrested around a dozen daily wager protesters as they tried to take out a march from Maulana Azad Stadium to Civil Secretariat in Jammu in support of their demands.

The protesters assembled on the main road outside the stadium and started shouting slogans against the lieutenant governor administration.
