Another earthquake hits Islamabad, other parts of country

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Attock, and Swabi, as well as other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday morning, causing panic among citizens.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) National Seismic Monitoring Center, the earthquake occurred at 9:28 am, and its intensity was recorded as 4.4 on the Richter scale.

According to the Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was 11 kilometers northeast of Burhan, while its depth was recorded as 14 kilometers.

According to initial reports, no loss of life or property was reported due to the earthquake; however, a large number of citizens came out of their homes reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.

Earlier on Friday, strong earthquake tremors of magnitude 5.6 were felt across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar and its surroundings.

According to details, tremors were experienced in Swat, Buner, Chitral, Malakand, Hazara, Swabi, Bajaur, Shangla, Dir Bala, Parachinar, Landikotal, Nowshera, and Abbottabad.

The earthquake struck during Iftar, prompting people to gather in open areas while reciting prayers.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Center of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.6 on the Richter scale, and the depth was 73 kilometers.

The seismic center added that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan

No immediate reports of casualties or damage were reported from any part of the province.
