AJK Zakat and Ushr Department releases Rs 23.41 million to treat 45 patients

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Zakat and Ushr Department of Azad Kashmir has released Rs 23 million 41 thousand for the treatment of 45 patients.

The deserving patient includes 37 patients with heart disease and 6 patients with cancer.

The first meeting of the Treatment Committee of the current financial year was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary Zakat and Ushr, in which the Secretary Committee, Chief Administrator Zakat and Ushr, other members, representatives of the Director General of Health and representatives of Baitul Mal Pakistan participated.

In the meeting, Rs 22 million 226 thousand were approved for 37 deserving patients with heart disease.

Rs 23 lakh 99 thousand 130 for 6 deserving patients with cancer and Rs 4 lakh 16 thousand 672 for 2 patients with other fatal diseases.

The patients include 18 from Muzaffarabad, 8 from Kotli, 4 from Rawalakot, 4 from Sidhnoti, 3 from Jhelum Valley, 2 from Bagh, 1 from Bhimber, 2 from Mirpur and 1 from Neelum.

On this occasion, Chief Administrator Chaudhry Muhammad Razaq said that the government is providing treatment facilities.

If a poor and needy person is not able to get treatment in Azad Kashmir, then he should contact the Zakat district offices or the desks established in the district hospitals for treatment in any government hospital in Pakistan so that his treatment can be ensured.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir ordered to double the amount of Zakat Profit Fund from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore.

Secretary Zakat and Ushr Department/Electricity Irshad Ahmad Qureshi gave a detailed briefing to Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, about the medical facilities provided by Zakat Profit Fund to deserving persons suffering from fatal diseases like cancer, heart disease, liver and kidney transplant during the last 6 months.

A detailed briefing was also given in the meeting on the administrative affairs of Zakat Profit Fund and the problems faced by Zakat Profit Fund.

The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir issued immediate orders to increase the amount of Zakat Profit Fund from Rs 50 million to Rs 100 million to ensure the continuous provision of medical facilities to the deserving persons and directed that additional funds be provided to the deserving persons immediately.
