MUZAFFRABAD (Kashmir English): Vice Chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, has taken a two-month leave due to personal engagements.

He has sent a formal leave request to the President of the State and Chancellor of the University, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, while his term of office is ending in June 2025.

According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of the University of Kashmir, the President of the University has sent his formal leave request to the President of the State and Chancellor of the University, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry. Dr. Kaleem Abbasi’s term as Vice Chancellor is also ending in June this year.

Interestingly,  Dr. Kaleem Abbasi resigned from the University of Haripur and started serving at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and later got an appointment on merit for a second term, the four-year term of which will end in June 2025.

However, his tenure has been marred by controversy, with students of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir launching a movement calling for his removal.

The Vica Chancellors’ leave has sparked speculation about the uncertain future of AJK University.
